Basildon Gran Wins £1,000,000 At Gala Bingo Club!
A grandmother from Basildon is the latest Bingo millionaire.
She has won a total of £1,023,353. This is made up of the Platinum Jackpot prize of more than £942,000; the Sunday evening National Game prize of over £76,000; the Zone prize of £3,000; the jackpot of £1,630 and the £240 House prize.
Her life has been changed forever by her local Gala club in more ways than one. Only three years ago, the 64-year-old woman met her partner at the Gala club in Southernhay, Basildon and now she has won more than a million pounds in the same venue.
"I am in total shock. I am still trying to get my head round it and it just won't sink in," said the lucky winner. "I've never been a lucky person, only winning £10 or £20 in the past. Nothing big ever. It is too much for me to take in. Not real."
"I telephoned my partner after the win and said I've won an awful lot of money, you'd better come down now. Then I burst into tears. I asked the member of staff who waited for him to break the news very gently because of his heart condition."
"The family will benefit of course," said the woman who has a daughter and three grandchildren. "We will have a decent holiday once my partner's heart operation is over. The money will sit in the bank while we decide what to do with it."
"There was an amazing atmosphere in the club when we announced just how much she had won," said Gala assistant manager, Bob Sidlow. "Everyone was pleased for her and clapping and cheering. It was marvellous to see so much goodwill for her."
