Taunton Woman Wins More Than £29,000 at Mecca Bingo Club
A 70-year-old grandmother from Taunton was playing Bingo at her local Mecca Bingo Club when good fortune struck and she won the National Afternoon Delight Game prize of almost £27,000, plus the zone prize of nearly £2,200 and the house prize of £43 by completing a full house in 40 calls.
“I didn't believe it when they told me how much I had won,” said the pensioner who has never won anything really big before. “I was on my way out when the manager told me I'd got the National Bingo prize but I told him not to be silly. The atmosphere was wonderful in the club after that, everyone was congratulating me. My husband was in complete shock when I got home and told him. He thought I'd just won a fiver.”
The woman who usually plays Bingo four times a week will use the money to buy a brand new car for her hubby.
